An exhibition of multidisciplinary art.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><em>Curated by Dr Judith Duquemin<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0International Concrete\u00a0is an inquiry based, multidisciplinary exhibition that brings together a mix of international artists who engage with principles of Concrete Art in their working process.\u00a0 Painter, Theo Van Doesburg, in his\u00a0Manifesto of Concrete Art\u00a0(1930), stated to\u00a0the effect that Concrete Art was imagery devoid of figurative, symbolic or stylistic references. Painting \u2018itself\u2019 was defined by the element that only referred to\u2026 \u2018itself\u2019. Painters such as Gris, Malevich, Popova and Mondrian all separated concrete and non-objective process from earlier forms of abstraction. Elements of line, plane, volume, space, material, colour, and\u00a0shape were \u2018concretized, or reduced to a concrete form so that the artist could use certain elements freely and competently for constructive purposes (Popova, L. 1921). La misma pintura se defin\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de aquel elemento cuya \u00fanica referencia era si mismo. Pintores como Gris, Malevich, Popova o Mondrian separaban el proceso concreto y no objetivo de las anteriores formas de abstracci\u00f3n. Se \u201cconcretaba\u201d, o reduc\u00eda a su forma concreta la l\u00ednea, el plano, el espacio, el material, el color o la forma, para que el artista pudiera emplear ciertos elementos de manera libre y competente para sus fines constructivos (Popova, L. 1921).
